The present study was a quest into the TRANSLATION PROGRAM, at the undergraduate level, aiming at disclosing the needs and expectations of the students from the PROGRAM. In fact, most studies on educational PROGRAMs explore the PROGRAM by and large and are thus summative in their evaluation. However, there is a growing interest and orientation toward formative evaluation. In addition, needs assessment is a part of curriculum development and is normally required before a syllabus is developed for language teaching. Similar to other academic PROGRAMs, there are a number of pre-determined objectives and instructions within the TRANSLATION PROGRAM which both instructors and students have to follow.Nevertheless, if the PROGRAM is evaluated properly, educational decision-makers could change malfunctioning courses within the PROGRAM and emphasize on beneficial ones instead. In line with the aforementioned objectives, therefore, 180 senior students of TRANSLATION at B.A. level were randomly chosen from six branches of the Islamic Azad University. These included North Tehran, South Tehran, Karaj, Roodehen, Garmsar, and Takestan Branches. Next, the subjects (called respondents/informants, henceforth) were required to respond to a multiplechoice questionnaire which was constructed based on the various aspects of the PROGRAM. The questionnaire was meant to obtain information about the subjects’needs and to come up with qualitative evaluation. The obtained results indicated that the respondents evaluated the PROGRAM as generally successful. However, they expected the PROGRAM to provide them with special amount of knowledge so they could take care of tasks including TRANSLATION and teaching, etc.
